About
‘Mohammed in Suburbia’ is an RMIT initiated project for 3rd year Media students enrolled in the Production Project 2 module.
The aim of the project is to film a collection of quality short documentaries on Arab youths in Melbourne that will be showcased at the very first Melbourne Arab Film Festival in October.
Why Arab Youths?
As much as we hate to say it, in the past (approximately) ten years, there has been a very negative connotation in the representation of Arabs in the media. What we want to do, is tell your story. Give your perspective on life, on the world. Everyone has something to say, and we hope that you’ll give us the opportunity to tell it through our documentary.
What is the Melbourne Arab Film Festival?
The Arab Film Festival (formerly known as the Sydney Arab Film Festival) will be showcased around Australia, and after its launch in Sydney, will be passing through Melbourne. Filmmakers are given the opportunity to showcase their works, with the central topic of Arab culture and people.
